Volunteering on the Work Site
The Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity has provided homeownership opportunities for more than 70 families in the Erie area including 4 in Union City for over 30 years. The COVID-19 Pandemic has certainly affected our building program and has limited our ability to host volunteers. However, we are pleased to announce that we are beginning the construction of a house. We will continue to use COVID-19 precautions which means we are not accepting any large groups of volunteers, we continue to encourage social distancing and if you are not fully vaccinated, we request that you wear a mask for your entire time on the worksite.
Beginning August 3, 2021, volunteers may begin to schedule by calling our office at 814-454-7025, ext. 107. We will be accepting a small number of volunteers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:45 am to 12 pm. Saturday opportunities will only be available on the first Saturday of each month for a morning session from 7:45 am until 12:00 noon. Saturday workdays require a minimum of 6 people to open the site and a maximum of 8 people.
All volunteers must fill out a waiver and schedule before they can come out to the worksite.
To volunteer on a Habitat worksite, you must be 16 years of age or older. There is no experience required and we will provide all of the tools. A waiver can be obtained by downloading the forms below, or by e-mailing the volunteer coordinator with any questions.
Volunteers will need to fill out the waiver and review the worksite guidelines. Once the waiver is complete & the guidelines have been reviewed, return the waiver to the Habitat for Humanity office located at 4922 Pittsburgh Avenue, Erie, PA, 16509. Please note: waivers must have an original signature and therefore cannot be faxed or emailed.
Once the office has received it, you will receive a phone call or an e-mail letting you know that your paperwork is completed and you are eligible to schedule at any time. Note: If you just show up at the worksite without scheduling, you will be sent home.
